Trying something unexpected is easier when it does not erase what came before. Can a person play freely and still understand where the result came from?
For the Afterimage study, the source is part of the idea. The experiment should invite discovery while keeping the route back understandable.

The person is the point.
A clever mechanism is not the same as a useful experience. A website still needs to help someone understand a business. A network still needs to make sense to the person living with it. A new tool still needs a reason to belong in the day.
The working question is simple: what does this make easier, and how will we know?
